Parents and Stepparents can be derived from many divorced parents who have remarried or are a family that is created with a combined group of children or another parent who has custody from another family structure. Single Parents are developed from unique situations such as being divorced, widowed, separated, or never being married. Divorcing Parents have a difficult role that requires them to become coparents while establishing separate households. Mothers and Fathers that are in a 2 parent home, both tend to form close bonds with children. Below you can find some of the different types of structures that students may come from or grow up with. It is important to be sensitive of the challenges children may be exposed to within their various family structures they can come from.
